Have you just gotten engaged? Wow! Congratulations. You’ve made it to the next level. Now that the butterflies are gone, let’s have a serious talk. At this point, I am hoping it is safe to assume that you got engaged to get married sometime soon. Here is a wedding planning checklist that you need to shift your attention to if you want to walk down the aisle stress-free.

Appreciate the Moment

Take some time to appreciate the moment. Not everyone finds true love. And for the few that are lucky, even fewer get to spend the rest of their lives with them. So, stop, take a breath, and enjoy the moment. Take a day off with your fiancé and go celebrate your engagement before you officially start the wedding planning. It doesn’t have to be something major. A simple night date will suffice.

Get organized

The planning process starts slow. However, it tends to snowball into a monster, whose front and backside cannot be differentiated. That’s why you need to have a clear plan.

The best way is to come up with a system that you can use to organize all the important activities. You can go digital with tools like google drive or Pinterest or go for the good old wedding binder calendar app combination.

Having a good plan, especially during the early stages, helps to reduce stress. Moreover, you will get to create more time for important activities.

Pick a date range

It may take some time to know the exact wedding date. So, what you need to have in mind or jotted down is a date range. This will help in narrowing down your options for venues, catering, and many other items that tend to be time-specific.

Having a range in mind like “next spring” or Summer 2021” is a good way to get the planning process in gear. It will also allow you to answer that one question that everyone asks, “When’s the big day?”

Talk about finances

Unless you have a blank check to cover the event, then you need to discuss finances. The wedding needs to be planned with a budget/budget range in mind. It is also a good way to ensure that both of you are reading from the same financial script.

Keep in mind things like debt, savings, and contributions as you decide on an appropriate budget, and make a decision on how much both of you are willing to spend for the big day. This will greatly influence your wedding planning checklist.

Create a checklist

Even if you hire a wedding planner, you will still have quite a lot to remember and keep track of before and during the final day. If you are feeling overwhelmed, then grab a wedding planning checklist online and customize it for your specific event. It is a simple way to ensure that you have your finger in everything important and that nothing vital is left behind.
